Trading Journal, AI Coach or Rule Enforcement: What Is the Difference?
3 min read · Updated October 9, 2026
A trading journal records what happened. An AI coach helps explain the recorded activity. Rule enforcement can apply limits you have set through your trading terminal. These serve different needs: reviewing a trade does not stop an order, and applying a limit does not explain every trading decision.
What does a trading journal do?
A journal keeps your trading records in one place so you can review results and habits. Risk Marshal automatically records your MT5 activity, including available profit, loss and performance measures. Journal does not close or resize trades. Keep your account connected; missing records can limit your review.
What does an AI trading coach do?
An AI discipline coach uses recorded trades, financial results, configured rules and rule events to explain observations and suggest practical review habits. Marshal Intelligence personalizes this analysis to the available evidence and focuses on following your rules. It does not choose trades or predict markets. It should tell you when evidence is missing, and its explanations can still be wrong. It cannot know how you felt from a trade record alone.
What does rule enforcement do?
Core and Pro add financial protection under the limits you configure. Risk Marshal can attempt position reductions, closures and pending-order cancellations. Other discipline breaches affect your score without themselves closing trades. You choose your trades; connection, permission and broker conditions affect execution.
Which option fits my needs?
- For reviewing your MT5 activity: Journal includes the automatic journal, analytics and baseline Marshal Intelligence, using your own computer or server.
- For applying your configured rules as well as reviewing activity: Core and Pro add enforcement. Check current plan limits and hosting options on the pricing page.
- For personal guidance beyond recorded activity: consider a human coach alongside your journal. AI feedback cannot replace all of that context.
Can I use it on a personal or prop firm account?
Risk Marshal supports personal, evaluation and funded MT5 accounts. Your money stays with your broker. For a prop firm account, check whether automated risk protection and your chosen connection method are permitted. Financial enforcement does not certify compliance with every firm rule.
